MiPACS DICOM Storage Server
Charlotte,
NC (July 22, 2003) Medicor Imaging, a digital imaging
and DICOM solution provider, announced today that the Royal
Veterinary College (RVC) at the University of London has finalized
the install of its MiPACS DICOM Storage Server. The RVC is
using the Server to store images from its Agfa CR and Siemens
Iconos instruments in the small animal and equine hospitals.
The Royal Veterinary College is the UK's
first and largest veterinary school and a constituent College
of the University of London. The College is one of the leading
veterinary research centers in Europe and provides support
for the veterinary profession through its three referral hospitals,
diagnostic services and continuing professional development
courses.
Patrick Fischer, Applications Team Manager
at the RVC explains, “The Royal Veterinary College,
London, U.K. selected Medicor's MiPACS DICOM Image Server
after an extensive review of solutions on the market. We found
it competitively priced, based on rock solid SQL server technology,
scalable and easy to deploy and configure. The College is
now using MiPACS for storage of images from two instruments
and is planning to extend this to a wide variety of modalities
used on site including MRI, CT and NM and US. We have over
40GB of image data stored to date.” “The MiPACS
DICOM Server has been operational for approximately one year
and has delivered 100% up time. Inevitably issues arise when
connecting a new instrument and we found Medicor’s technical
support exemplary.”
MiPACS Storage Server is an image repository
and management system for most DICOM compliant modalities
and client applications. MiPACS is an ideal starting point
for any facility that is migrating towards a film-less environment.
MiPACS is the backbone in creating a DICOM network. Features
include: full DICOM 3.0 compliance, ability to receive captured
images from any DICOM storage workstation or modality, support
for DICOM Query/Retrieve, cost effective, scalable and flexible,
digital acquisition and review, fast access to image data
anywhere anytime, and the ability to communicate digital images
to referring physicians quickly and reliably.
Bruce Dennis, Managing Director of Medicor
Imaging states, “Understanding that DICOM is utilized
as the imaging standard for the healthcare industry including
veterinary medical, our goal at Medicor is quite simple, provide
a DICOM compliant, scaleable and affordable image storage
solution for all medical disciplines.”
