MiPACS™ Dental Enterprise
Viewer
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer is a comprehensive
program aimed at integrating seamlessly with all of the most
popular Sensors, Phosphor Plate Scanners, Intraoral Cameras,
Digital Panoramic Devices, Image Scanners, and Video and DV
sources. Instead of requiring a clinic’s staff to learn
a different type of software for each imaging device used,
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer offers one all-inclusive solution.
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer is reliable,
scalable, and expandable. With advanced security features,
compatibility with nearly any Windows network configuration,
extensive DICOM support and conformance, as well as image
management and manipulation tools, MiPACS offers a feature
set unavailable anywhere else.

Processing Tools
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer offers all the tools needed to
accurately diagnose and to improve the quality of images scanned,
captured, or imported. MiPACS offers the ability to always retain
the original images and save an additional altered copy into a
patient’s file. Click
here for more information.

Analysis Tools
MiPACS' image analysis tools allow users to zoom, magnify, measure,
and annotate images. Accurate angle, linear, and polygonal measurements
are available, and using annotations, these measurements can be
permanently recorded with the saved image. Click
here for more information.
- Supported Hardware
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer seamlessly integrates with the
world’s most popular sensors, imaging plate systems, digital
panoramic devices, digital cameras, scanners, and video sources.

- Security/HIPAA Compliance
MiPACS offers security features to control user permissions. This
is a key feature for dental schools where, for example, only certain
staff members have the right to approve X-rays taken by students.
Security measures have also been put in place to make the application
HIPAA compliant. The ability to export and print images with patient
information can be restricted, as well as the ability to delete,
create, and import images.

|
- Presentation
Overview
You can display up to nine images from one or multiple patients
or series side by side in a full-screen presentation view. The
presentation view displays the images on a black background, to
simulate a lightbox.
|
|
- Predefined Templates
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer includes many predefined templates
for arranging and storing images. The most popular arrangments
such as 18 and 20 full mouth series, 2 and 4 bitewings, and many
more, are included. Most of the included templates are "smart
templates," for which anatomical information about each x-ray
has been predefined, so there is no need to enter the information
after the x-rays have been placed on the template. Some templates,
such as PAs, are not smart templates and can adapt to the anatomical
region being x-rayed.
|
|
- Custom Templates
Create custom layouts for radiograph series to fit any clinic’s
need. Any arrangement of images in a series is supported, along
with the option to create "smart templates," which include
predefined anatomical information that corresponds with each image
in the series. Templates can also be setup to encode the individual
teeth being x-rayed, which can later be used when searching for
images of a certain tooth.

|
- Clinical
Software Integration
MiPACS link offers seamless integration with clinical/practice
management software. The viewer can be fired off from another
application, immediately displaying the patient’s images
and even passing permission based upon user or station. There
is no need to look up the patient a second time. This removes
the chance for clinical errors that are made when entering patient
data.
|
|
- Citrix Compatibility
Run MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer as a thick client on each
machine, or run it on a Citrix server farm to centralize administration
and upgrades. MiPACS can be configured to communicate with the
DICOM server on a different port for each Citrix client, allowing
uninterrupted, simultaneous transfer of images even when many
users are connected to the same Citrix server.
|
|
|
|
- Multiple
DICOM Servers Supported
Multiple DICOM servers, even at different sites, are supported.
Users at sattelite clinics can query local and central DICOM servers
at the same time. To ensure speed, no images are downloaded during
the query until the desired series is viewed.
|
|
- Local
Database
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer works even if the link to your
DICOM server doesn’t. Thanks to a local SQL or Access database,
users can still capture images and view recently taken images
even if they don’t have connectivity to the server. Once
connectivity to the server is re-established, images can then
be saved to the DICOM server. In addition, the local database
makes viewing recently used series quicker by saving a cached
copy of the series to the local hard drive. MiPACS can be configured
to autosave images to the DICOM server as well as the local database
or wait for user interaction. The database can also be configured
to clean itself after transferred to the DICOM server, which reduces
the amount of disk space needed on client workstations.

|
- Import
Virtually Any Image Format
You can import image files in nearly any file format, so transferring
patient files from other imaging systems is easy. Supported formats
include JPEG, DICOM, DICOM Media (w/ DICOMDIR), bitmap, PCX, TIFF,
PNG, and many more.
|
|
- Comprehensive
Image Support
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer supports:
8-bit grayscale images
12-bit grayscale images
16-bit grayscale images
monochrome 1 images
monochrome 2 images
24-bit color images
YCBR images

- Supported
Image Compression
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer supports the following compression
types:
JPEG Lossy (8- and 12-bit grayscale and 24-bit color)
JPEG Lossless (8-, 12-, and 16-bit grayscale and 24-bit color)
JPEG 2000 Lossy (8-, 12-, and 16-bit grayscale and 24-bit color)
JPEG 2000 Lossless (8-, 12-, and 16-bit grayscale and 24-bit color)
RLE (8-, 12-, and 16-bit grayscale and 24-bit color)
uncompressed (implicit/explicit VR little endian, explicit VR
big endian)

|
- Ideal for a
teaching environment
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer includes features which make it
an ideal choice for a dental school. Configured with a local cache,
MiPACS can allow students to only capture, and not approve images.
Without approval, images cannot be stored to the DICOM server.
MiPACS can be configured to store captured images locally until
an instructor can approve them for transfer to the DICOM server.
|
|
- Patient Record/Image
Exporting
Selected images or entire patient records can be exported from
MiPACS Dental Enterprise Viewer. These can be exported in BMP,
JPEG, PNG, TIFF, CMP, and DICOM file formats. In addition, multiple
images can be exported to DICOM Media with a DICOMDIR file. An
auto-export function can also be configured to export images automatically
to an alternate directory for another application to use.
|
|
- Local View
Images can be arranged for analysis in alternate forms using Image
Cards. Image Cards are locally-stored templates that use images
that have been previously taken. Images from multiple series can
be added to an image card and saved in any layout for viewing.
